The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Candice Hoeppner, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Josée Beaudin, Rick Casson, Raymonde Folco, Candice Hoeppner, Ed Komarnicki, Yves Lessard, Ben Lobb, Hon. Maria Minna, Michael John Savage and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Michael D. Chong for Ron Cannan, Yvon Godin for Tony Martin and Lise Zarac for Raymonde Folco.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst; André Léonard, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Labour Congress: Barbara Byers, Executive Vice-President; Sylvain Schetagne, Senior Economist, Social and Economic Policy Department. Federally Regulated Employers - Transportation and Communications (FETCO): John Farrell, Executive Director.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, March 3, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-308, An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act (improvement of the employment insurance system).
 

Barbara Byers made a statement and, with Sylvain Schetagne, answered questions.

 

At 4:26 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:30 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Wednesday, March 3, 2010, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-395, An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act (labour dispute).
 

John Farrell made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 5:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
