The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 9:02 a.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Marlene Catterall, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Sarmite Bulte, Marlene Catterall, Maka Kotto, Marc Lemay, Deepak Obhrai, Bev Oda, Gary Schellenberger, Mario Silva, Scott Simms and David Smith.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Senior Analyst; Sam Banks, Analyst. As Individual: David Black, Consultant.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Conference of the Arts : Jean Malavoy, National Director; Peter Fleming, Consultant. Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists: Thor Bishopric, National President, National ACTRA; Wendy Crewson.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Canadian Feature Film Industry.
 

Jean Malavoy made an opening statement and with Peter Fleming answered questions.

On motion of Gary Schellenberger, it was agreed, — That the Committee retain the professional services of David Black, as a consultant to assist in organizing the work of the Committee in relation to its study of the Canadian Feature Film Industry for the period of April 1 to June 23, 2005 at a per diem rate of 600.00 for a total amount not to exceed $ 36,000.00.

 

At 10:59 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
