The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 11:10 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Raynald Blais, Hon. Gerry Byrne, Blaine Calkins, Randy Kamp, Yvon Lévesque, Peter Stoffer, Dave Van Kesteren, John Weston and Rodney Weston.

 

Acting Members present: Hon. Shawn Murphy for Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Robert Oliphant for Scott Andrews and Alan Tonks for Hon. Lawrence MacAulay.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: François Côté, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Fisheries and Oceans: David Bevan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries and Aquaculture Management; Wendy Watson-Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science Sector; Sylvain Paradis, Director General, Ecosystem Science; Robert Elliott, Director General, Economic Analysis and Statistics; David Gillis, Director, Fish Population Science.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, February 12, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the Atlantic lobster fishery.
 

Wendy Watson-Wright made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 12:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:45 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
