The Standing Committee on Finance met at 6:52 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Nick Discepola, Roger Gallaway, Albina Guarnieri, Sophia Leung, Yvan Loubier, Gary Pillitteri, Karen Redman and Paul Szabo.

Acting Member present: Paul Forseth for Richard Harris.

The Order of Reference dated Friday, May 12, 2000, being now read as follows:

ORDERED, -- That Bill S-3, An Act to implement an agreement, conventions and protocols between Canada and Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Algeria, Bulgaria, Portugal, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Japan and Luxembourg for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.

The Chair called Clause 1.

By unanimous consent, the Parliamentary Secretary's statement was taken as read.

ORDERED, -- That the Chair report Bill S-3, An Act to implement an agreement, conventions and protocols between Canada and Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Algeria, Bulgaria, Portugal, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Japan and Luxembourg for the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income as the Sixth Report of the Committee.

At 6:53 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
